Hi, my name is Jodi Cho and I am running for vice president with the Caracal Party. The Caracal Party plans to focus on these ten policies: abortion should be allowed, supporting gun control laws, more background checks surrounding illegal immigration, more trauma-based therapy should be available, supporting federal budgeting, drug laws surrounding the use of drugs for medication, having teachers and students have positive relationships to work harder and better, minimum wage should not be raised, there to be more shelters and services regarding human trafficking, and in working with the American Disabilities Act. 

We believe minimum wage should not be raised. The rise of minimum wage can cause more inflation/labor costs, unemployment, and businesses closing due to the higher prices. It is found that restaurants operate with a 3% to 5% profit margin, which is very low, which can lead to running out of business or letting go of staff. Raising minimum wage to even $15 is estimated to result in the loss of about 1.5 million jobs within a decade. Research shows the Raise the Wage Act of 2022 creates an increase in poverty in the poorest places in America, an increase in unemployment due to businesses and companies getting rid of their employees, an increase in inflation which contributes to a higher tax rate for U.S. citizens, and a loss of businesses due to higher prices. Gun control is a set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians, such as ourselves. The Caracal Party believes gun control helps reduce gun deaths, mass shootings, and suicides, as well as restricts the possession of guns to protect civil society. Since 2021, there have been over 20,000 deaths due to the possession of guns. Each day, 12 children die from gun violence. Not all people use guns for bad, but we believe there should be limits on the possession of guns and more background checks.
