Policy Advisory Letters

Dear Ms. Sadler, 

There are people all over the world who suffer from trauma from past events they have faced. This can include being a victim of human trafficking or seeing mass shootings happen in front of them. There should be more trauma-based therapies or services for those who need it. There should also be more background checks and restrictions on guns to limit the amount of deaths happening due to the possession of guns. As of 2021, there have been about 20,000 deaths due to the possession of guns. Each day, 12 children die from gun violence. Not all people use guns for bad, but there should be background checks to make sure people have a good reason to own a gun.  Also about human trafficking, the number of people prosecuted from human trafficking increased from 729 in 2011 to 1,343 in 2020. Human trafficking is a very serious issue as it leaves the victim with a traumatizing experience. This is also why there should be a border built for illegal immigrants trying to pass (unless under 16). Illegal immigrants trying to pass can bring more crimes and violence.
